For gamers, the EAX® ADVANCED HD 4.0, with its state-of-the-art Multi-Environment rendering and reverb modelling, delivers a much more realistic and immersive 3D gaming experience than your motherboard audio ever will. In addition, X-Fi Crystalizer adds dynamics and punch to every gunshot, explosion and music track while X-Fi CMSS-3D provides an incredibly realistic surround sound experience from just a pair of stereo headphones. Due to changes in Windows Vista's DirectSound3D implementation, certain legacy DirectSound3D games will have its audio compromised, resulting in only stereo output without any effects. Creative ALchemy is a powerful tool that restores the EAX effects and full surround sound when running these DirectSound3D games in Windows Vista so that you can enjoy true 3D interactive gaming again. Native OpenAL support is a cross-platform 3D Audio API used by many games and music applications developers to deliver superb 3D audio simulation. Since the Sound Blaster MB includes native OpenAL support, you can be assured of an incredible 3D audio experience on many PC game titles.
For music lovers, the X-Fi Crystalizer can restore the details and vibrance, (lost during the compression process) back to your mp3/wma. Crystal reports 2008 product key. Also, X-Fi CMSS-3D gives a whole new, 3D-surround sound dimension to your existing stereo music. Other audio effects such as EAX® reverbs, Smart Volume Management and a 10-band graphic equalizer allows you to enhance your music even more. I'm having the same issue as well on my Studio 14z - however, I did an upgrade to Win 7 instead of clean install. Prior to upgrade, X-Fi was working just fine. I also noticed the Dell Win7 upgrade package updating my sound card drivers and applying the X-Fi MB patch but now when I try to access the audio control panel I get 'no audio device supported'.
You would think Dell would have tested this before release. Unfortunately I see no patches/fixes on Dell's product support/download site.
Still waiting. With two having the same problem, I suspect the Xfi MB software is not fully Win 7 compatible. We are seeing Win 7 compatibility issues with the SoundBlaster Xfi line of sound cards in the Desktop section. SoundBlaster has a Beta Win 7 driver for the Xfi models that they are going to support (only the current models, not the discontinued models) and that seems to be working in Win 7 and it also fixes the problem of popping and crackling audio if the PC has more than 3GB of RAM. As the Xfi MB is an OEM software enhancement, there is no updates available on the Creative (SoundBlaster) support site. Has anyone tried installing the Xfi MB in the Vista compatibility mode? That may be one workaround.
I had to install my recording studio DAW control surface in the Vista compatibility mode, as it wouldn't install in Windows 7. Did you all get a disk for the X-Fi MB software with a key or did you download it? The reason I ask is our 1555 has it pre installed but did not come with a disk and I remember a system sometime back came with a disk and a key. I did not get a disk. I had to talk to about 10 different Dell reps before I finally got someone that understood what I needed. You have to make it very clear to them that you are looking for the software enhancment X-Fi MB CD. Otherwise they will direct you to the actual X-Fi hardware drivers.

Hello, Well, my audio drivers and system seems completely fried. Earlier this week, I updated my Creative X-Fi Sound Blaster drivers to the July 30, 2009 update. I restarted and everything got messed up. Mouse drivers dead, display drivers dead, audio drivers dead, internet drivers dead. Unfortunately, I thought that it was just the audio drivers that were causing the problem.

As a result, I fiddled around with the audio drivers and audio control panel a bit too much, and most of them got deleted. I then tried installing the 7-30-2009 update again, and I got a BSOD as a result. I performed a system restore and got back to the state right before I installed.
It was around then that I discovered that it was not just the audio drivers messing everything up, but rather a complete failure of various drivers due to the audio driver installation. I fixed my mouse, display, and internet drivers by reloading them via device manager. But the audio didn't work. Apparently something I'd fiddled around with earlier messed it up. Luckily, I discovered that most of my drivers and programs had been backed up, so I restored those drivers and audio programs back to where they were supposed to be. I reloaded, nothing. System restore won't work, as I unfortunately seem to not have any restore points from before the disaster.

If I delete all drivers for the device via device manager, I get an audio device called High Definition Audio Device, which is actually my X-Fi, and it seems after I delete all the drivers my audio card is no longer recognized; and the audio still doesn't work. If I don't, my audio card is still recognized, but the audio still doesn't work. I then re-installed the 7-30-2009 driver update again after going into safe-mode and wiping all of my Creative drivers via Guru3d's DriverSweeper.
The driver update didn't mess up the computer this time, but it didn't do anything either. Later, I discovered my drivers were still only at the April 20, 2009 update.
I have an alternative sound source, an ATI High Definition Audio Device. Is there some way to activate this ATI device, or simply fix my X-Fi (preferable)? I'm completely out of ideas, and I'm desperate. I've already spent at least 30 hours this week trying to fix this, and nothing I do seems to work. Please assist me. Thank you very much in advance! Hi NuclearBunny, Try running the audio troubleshooter by going to Start - Control Panel - Troubleshooting - Troubleshoot audio playback under Hardware and Sound section. If the issue persists after running the troubleshooter, you can uninstall the sound card and its driver in Device Manager to see if the issue can be resolved: First, going to Control Panel - Programs and Features to uninstall the sound card driver and software. Click ' Start', input ' Device Manager' (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press 'Enter'.
Double-click ' Sound, video and game controllers' to expand it. Right-click the installed Sound Card and then click Uninstall. Restart the computer. Run Windows Update to download the sound card driver. What is the result? Can the sound be heard now?
If the issue still exists, could you please provide the System Information for further research? Press Start, type in msinfo32 in the Start Search bar and then press Enter. Choose Save from the File menu and save it as an NFO file. Find the file, right-click on this file, click 'Send To', and click 'Compressed (zipped) Folder'. Upload the compressed file to me. For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you. You can upload the information files to the following link.

Thank you for your understanding. Regards, Linda. Hi NuclearBunny, Try disabling one of the sound card from Device Manager and see if the sound works: 1. Click 'Start', input 'Device Manager' (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press 'Enter'. Double-click 'Sound, video and game controllers' to expand it. Right-click on ATI High Definition Audio Device and then click Disable. Check if the sound works.
If not, move on to step 5. Right-click on ATI High Definition Audio Device and then click Enable. Right-click on Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM) and then click Disable. Check the issue again.
Also, what is the result without installing the sound card driver update? All, I don't know if this is rude or not but I would like to share my countless hours that I put in to get my Windows 7 Dell Precision M6500 with Creative Audigy 2 ZS to work. I downloaded the four new files that I needed for Win 7, one of them was the driver for the PC card. I inserted the PC card first then ran the SBAX driver install, I chose all the defaults and then went for a walk.
I returned to a BSOD (I new that would happen), I simply shutdown and powered back on. I proceeded to install the next three files, ALchemy, MediaSource 5 and WaveStudio 7, each time rebooting after the install. This is the good part, I still did not get any sound from the card after all that work so I started to tinker. I opened the Sound properties in the C/P, I found the card in the Playback tab, right clicked it and set it to default. BAM that did it. Went to Recording and chose the same for the appropriate device. I hope this works for you.

As he stated, I went to the Control Panel and Clicked Sound (I was curious to see if this worked for me; couldn't hurt, could it?) I then enabled everything after right clicking and checking 'Show Disabled Devices'.
After that, if there is more than one option, set one of them as default that can be enabled. After that, it may work. I spent countless hours trying to find a solution to this common Windows 7 problem, and this is what finally solved it. Let us know if this helped at all Good luck!
